Amy Ilic

Amy was born to Polish/Serbian parents, grew up in UK and now living in Portugal where her daughter speaks fluent Portuguese!

Amy studied Anthropology and did both of her final thesis on subjects within motherhood, one on the sexualization's of breastfeeding and the other arguing the case that home birth is safer than hospital birth.

Now, Amy is a postpartum educator and coach for new time mothers navigating the transition into motherhood: Matrescence.

The postpartum time is an opportunity to set the stage for the next 40 years of a mother's life with the right kind of healing, support, bodywork and mindset, the transition which can often include growing pains can flow with a little more ease and with a lot more support.

Amy teaches Postpartum planning workshops where she goes into the 5 pillars as a foundation of knowledge that supports healing. She is also a Vaginal Steam facilitator and gives plans for labor prep and postpartum cleanses. She also holds yoni steam circles and Mother Fire circles. Amy is trained with Rachelle Garcia Seliga of Innate Traditions where she learned the approach of modern science meets ancient traditional knowledge. She also trained with Julia Jones from New Born Mothers where she learnt the foundations of being a postpartum doula.

Amy thinks that motherhood is a gateway into the most powerful meaningful part of a womans (who wants to have children) life. She is passionate about spreading the knowledge of postpartum healing  and support all that is becoming in a newborn mother weather that be her 1st or 5th baby!

When a baby is born so is a mother.

"The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail – when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her. The emotional labor pains of becoming a mother are far greater than the physical pangs of birth; these are the growing surges of your heart as it pushes out selfishness and fear and makes room for sacrifice and love. It is a private and silent birth of the soul, but it is no less holy than the event of childbirth, perhaps it is even more sacred." -Joy Kusek

INTRO TO PLANNING FOR THE 4TH TRIMESTER

This class will introduce the main pillars to have in place and be aware of to plan best for a peaceful postpartum.

Whether this is your first baby or 5th, you will still be going through all the same physiological changes after giving birth. The dynamics between your partner and other children if you have them will change and so will you. You will be learning to breastfeed a whole new baby and taking care and fully nourishing this baby 24/7 on call..... on little sleep. There are ways that you can support your body to heal and put things and people in place to help you in this transition.

Often second time mums can see the value in postpartum planning as they see how important it is from their first. You don't know until you go through this very powerful transition into motherhood, getting to know your baby and yourself all over again.

In this class Amy will briefly skim over the 4 pillars: rest, warmth, nutrition, appropriate bodywork and COMMUNITY.

If you feel like going deeper into these topics Amy is holding a 5 class series and a more in-depth class into Community and the importance of human support for healing and thriving.
